Deb Hymers has been an educator for 27 years and founded NSTEP in 2002. She uses her knowledge, and experience in education and program development to train others to deliver NSTEP EAT WALK LIVE in their communities. Deb uses her endless energy and drive to lead a team of individuals passionate about improving children’s health. NSTEP Master Trainers in various provinces are all part of leadership team, working collectively and collaboratively to improve the health of today’s children, tomorrow’s adults.

Darlene is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in health care leadership, project planning and change management. She is also a certified professional coach dedicated to inspiring and supporting nurses to be transformational leaders. Her strong belief is that only by thinking creatively and working collaboratively will we solve the problems of today for healthier futures tomorrow. Darlene has taken her passion and enthusiasm for healthier lifestyles to numerous non-profits, various boards and committees. NSTEP is indeed fortunate to have a strong Health Champion in Edmonton.

Wendy-Lee Leeners

Dip. Advanced Nutrition
Wendy-Lee’s passion for health and fitness inspired her to obtain a diploma in Advanced Nutrition from the Alive Academy of Natural Health (Sports Nutrition, Vegetarian Nutrition, and Applied Nutrition). She has many years of experience as a health educator in school settings and is thrilled to be working with the NSTEP team in BC. NSTEP has a Master Contract with Surrey School District. She was a presenter at the THESA Conference (Teachers of Home Economics Specialist Association) – Chilliwack 2019, as well as at the Surrey Teachers Convention- May 2020.
Completion of CLIC Program (Community Leaders Igniting Change)-in partnership with the Surrey Poverty Reduction Coalition and SFU. Former Nutritional Advisor for the Surrey United Soccer Premier League.
